Visage (2009)

The myth of Salome has been explored time and again in art and theatre. Now it is being reinterpreted by the Taiwanese film director, Tsai Ming-Liang, who travelled to the Louvre, Paris to shoot the film, Visage (Face). Salome is played by Laetitia Casta and the costumes are by one of my favourite fashion designers, Christian Lacroix. The reviews promise the audience a visual fest and I personally can't wait to see how Lacroix's exquisite creations dress the Biblical 'femme fatale'. Below I have gathered some examples of how Salome has been depicted in fine art, in the hope to get a glimpse of what may have inspired Lacroix for the costumes of this film.
