Today was my first day off in about 2 weeks, I have been very busy with my day job at the library, a fashion shoot I did last Saturday as well as a short horror film I am currently doing the costumes for. We started shooting this last Sunday and as usual I enjoyed every second of being on set, most people complain about this side of the job but I personally love it. Another bit of a costume designer's role I love is the research, after reading the script, the character profile most directors recommend you watch the films that inspired them.
For the horror film I am working on I was recommended Polanski's Repulsion which was incredible to say the least, the story was really good and always had me at the edge of my seat! Of course costume was what I was looking out for and I have to highlight that I loved the fact that even though Catherine Deneuve looked cute and sexy her wardrobe was not a fashion show and most costumes were repeated which completely fitted the character and her lifestyle. Most memorable garment was definitely Deneuve's night dress (above).
